Once you have set up all that is required to get your online business running, you look at doing some SEO to rank better in search engines. Now, you’ve got two options to look at.

1. Hiring a SEO expert to both on-page and off-page optimization for you.
2. Do in-house SEO by learning through forums and eBooks

Though books and forums could tell you what you need to do, it does not necessarily make you an SEO expert. SEO by itself is constantly changing as several advanced tactics keep evolving everyday. As an online businessman, you will have an additional burden to keep yourself updated about these technologies if you decide to run an in-house SEO strategy. While, hiring an professional SEO expert and out-sourcing your work to him would make more sense while you could concentrate on improving your business in terms of new customers or other means of promoting it.

Again, while talking about out-sourcing your SEO work, you can either opt to go with the SEO freelancers who are available on Odesk for cheap or talk to a seasoned SEO firm to hire some of their experts which comparatively will cost you more money. SEO freelancers can structure their strategies only to help your websites rank well for a short-term period where as the professional SEO experts could help you in long term domination of your website on all the search engines. They are trained on how to take competition and how to beat them through both on-going SEO process.

People often expect their revenues to go up by 100%, the day after some basic SEO is done. It is important to understand that SEO is just to help you get organic traffic and create a brand name within your industry and cannot work wonders unless you got the other phases of your online business right.

There are a lot of well known SEO experts out there but at the same time, you can also try to get hold of some experts within your region so that you could have a easier communication and work more closely with the SEO firm.

One of the most active topics in most of the SEO forums is whether link wheels still help people to dominate search engine results? IMHO, link wheel is just a simple SEO strategy to get more links towards your website. However, there are several ways to go about designing your own linking strategy for these link wheels. It is certain that the traditional 1-2-3 and so on linking does not hold good anymore. There are also talks going on that Google is catching up on link wheels and nullifying the effect of web 2.0 properties.

Having done a lot of link wheels in the past and now, I believe that link wheels still hold good if a small twist is applied to it. This twist could be in the form of the properties that you use or the way you link your properties or even a whole new idea that you don’t wanna call a link wheel.

Some of them complaint that their web 2.0 properties don’t get indexed anymore but I would say that unless you sufficiently bookmark all your web 2.0 properties, there is no guaranteed way of getting crawled by search engines. Link wheels will continue to work if some amount of time and effort is spent on structuring them properly. While every SEO technique depends on the niche, competitors and their SEO strategy, link wheel is no different than any other SEO methods.

I shall update this blog with my custom linking strategy during this weekend.
